SIX STEPS TO ASSURING POSITIVE OUTCOMES FOR CHILDREN

bulletIncrease bonds (connectedness) between family members, between school and student, and between student and any pro-social (positive) group or activity.
bulletTeach "life" skills such as refusal skills, conflict resolution, how to make a friend, how to make good decisions, etc.
bulletSet and consistently enforce expectations (i.e. family rules, school policies, organization rules, etc.).
bulletProvide all children with caring and support (including unconditional caring/love, listening, encouragement, etc.).
bulletProvide all children with high expectations for success.
bulletProvide all children with opportunities for meaningful participation and contribution.
